"I have had the privilege to closely witness the work and evolution of Julie Bjelland MFT as a remarkable therapist. Julie has developed great expertise and success in her work with Highly Sensitive People. She has used research, clinical experience and her HSP gifts to develop a unique and effective therapeutic approach to help HSP clients overcome the obstacles of living in a world that is too often not supportive of HSP needs, and to help HSPs feel accepted and valued rather than different or "wrong". Now she brings her talent and work to a greater audience in this on-line course. It offers the content of her approach, builds in the necessary follow-up and creates a supportive on-line community. The course also offers the benefit of Julie's warm, compassionate voice and her caring." - Jeannie Wolitzer, LMFT
"I highly recommend that highly sensitive people take Julie Bjelland's HSP course. This thorough and well-researched class contains many techniques to help transform the HSP's life. Even if the student implements only a portion of the many practical and innovative methods that are presented in the course for calming the sensitive nervous system, the HSP will live a happier, more tranquil and productive life."- Ted Zeff, Ph.D. author of "The Highly Sensitive Person Survival's Guide," "The Strong Sensitive Boy," and " The Power of Sensitivity."
Reviews From HSP Course "Graduates"
Course Two Participants:
Love the strength and self-honoring that I am seeing develop in the HSPs that are taking my online HSP course.
"Hi Julie! The timing couldn't have been better for this course with what life has been throwing me lately. I feel like I have a roadmap now, handwritten by me in my journals of how to be a thriving HSP in the world. I so treasure the tools you gave us and relish in the idea of shifting my self-view from sheepish "special snowflake" to a self-compassionate, unapologetic super hero who is simply differently-abled and deserves to be nurtured so I can continue to be the most awesome version of me possible. I can now own and passionately protect the idea that self-care is medically necessary for me as an HSP. Thank you!"-Ruby, CA
Interesting perspective of how good HSP tools can even benefit someone scoring a bit lower on the HSP scale:
"I would recommend Julie's course even if you may be on the lower end of sensitivity for an HSP. I took the test twice, getting a score of 15 the first time and a score of 18 the second time. I went into this course unsure if I really had HSP traits and through this course I realized I did have these traits and that I just wasn't aware of it. It has made my behaviour much more understandable to me and made it easier to be kind to myself. While this course is not focused on individual issues, I found it to work hand in hand with what I was doing in my one on one therapy." -Emily, California USA"
Embracing Being an HSP. Life Changing Experience
"This course was truly eye-opening! Julie is amazing! Through this course, she offers Highly Sensitive People a world of knowledge about HSP traits, tools to use in daily life and unending support from other HSPs. Because of Julie I have been able to embrace being an HSP and start working towards living my best life. I highly recommend this course to all Highly Sensitive People, it is a life changing experience you won’t regret!"- Alicia Persaud, California
Feeling Validated, Worthy, Peaceful, Inspired. Recommending to HSP Clients
"Julie's HSP brain training course helped me to recognize and embrace parts of my personality that I discounted before. Through the class I was able to effectively reframe many ways my inner process, which I used to think made my life harder, can actually help my friends, family, coworkers, and me. I was inspired to commit to and prioritize important, rewarding self-care activities; I now feel fully validated and worthy of taking that time for myself. I implemented some of the ideas from the course at home and my family life is more peaceful as a result, so the things I learned definitely have a ripple effect in my life. I highly recommend taking this course over reading the book because having a series of "deadlines" kept me accountable and the group was great. Julie was incredibly attentive on an impressively detailed level. We also shared our own insights and gave each other priceless feedback. I already recommended the class to a few of my HSP clients and coworkers and plan to continue doing so without hesitation! If you're on the fence, just do it; You won't be sorry." -Elizabeth Butler, California
Course One (Pilot Program)
“This brain training course has been life changing. I have tried other self- help books, mini trainings and counseling but this by far met me right where I was in my body, mind, and soul. The biggest aha moment was my perspective on who I am, a super human with super traits. And just like any other super hero, I have to learn how to use my super powers for my own good and to better the world around me. Another amazing part of this course was being able to connect with others that have the same traits as me. So often we want to be “normal” and “fit in” and this course helped me to see how I fit in and helped me grow more. Often times others would post something that I could relate to without me being aware of it before. The awareness, self-care, and daily accommodations I have made as a result of this training has enhanced my life. I am less overwhelmed (something I never thought I would experience), less stressed/anxious, and I am able to enjoy myself and life around me without the chaos. My yoga, prayer, and meditation practice have just sky rocketed. I see this as a form of nutrition for me-like a meal I need to have every day to survive. I love it. This course has not only enhanced my personal life, but has helped me help others in my professional life more effectively. I am so thankful for Julie and this course. I can’t wait to get her book as an ongoing life reference.” -Natalie Donohoo, Superhuman Mother, wife, and creator, Idaho
"I so enjoyed taking Julie B's course for Lowering HSP Brain overwhelm and anxiety. The material is clear and tools and practices for hsps are outlined beautifully. Taking this class in conjunction with other HSPs and being able to share together in a group was also most beneficial. It normalized my experience so much to hear from other HSPs and to know I am not alone in experiencing these challenges, they are "just" a part of our trait and can be mitigated. This course presents a clear and needed foundation to greater HSP relief, awareness and self-care. I recommend this course highly!" - AnnaB, Maryland US
"I found this course to be a breath of fresh air...literally. It seems for the first 50 years of my life I was holding my breath but now, thanks to Julie, I can breathe freely. The whole experience was so eye opening. To see that there are other people exactly like myself and to be given tools to use in a very easy to understand format has made it possible to not only accept myself but also to learn how to manage the things that sometimes makes life a challenge for HSP's. To be taught by someone who truly understands and has experienced what I am going through makes all the difference. The content is simple but effective and definitely not overwhelming...a blessing to all HSP's. Thank you Julie, you have made a huge difference in my life and wish you all the best with helping the larger HSP community." -Deb Trotter, Australia
"Julie – Your class has inspired me and helped me to understand myself better than I ever have before. These past eight weeks have flown by yet a transformation in me has occurred. At first I was hesitant to change, nervous because I didn’t think that I would be able to. In following your step by step guide, which was laid out in an easy to understand, tiered format, it came sort of naturally. I enjoyed, through the forum, learning about other HSP’s experiences and sharing my own. I felt secure in knowing that I am not alone and was also able to share my successes with people who I know truly understand. Finally, I feel empowered to deal with my anxiety and stress productively. This class has really given me the tools to live my life in a new way, feeling enlightened as well as proud to be a highly sensitive person!" Katie Seipp, New Jersey
"Julie what a gift this course is to HSPs. It has been important to have this information and to be able to talk to other HSPs. To be heard and understood is so validating!"-Sharon B California
“This course really has had a great impact on me, and my therapist noticed it, too. It's been really hard to be the only one of my friends who has been willing to get (and pay for) help, and this class seemed to solidify that bettering ourselves and working on our mental health is so, so worth it. Going through this course at a younger age at first made me feel weak, but investing the time in myself and recognizing my HSP traits as strengths couldn't have been more worth it. I can't put into words how wonderful it is not to be thinking about my every move at work, in my relationships, and what I'm doing with my life. It's like my brain can take breaks from my seemingly constant inner dialogue, and be in the moment, now more than ever. The tools you gave us were challenging at first, but doable, and then incredibly rewarding. When I started this course, I had known about the HSP trait for about two weeks, and was a lower number on the HSP scale (17). But this course really did make all the difference. I've been struggling with my anxiety for the past few years, and my brain feels like it can rest again. I am so grateful for this course and being able to work on myself for the better. -Chloe, 24, CA
"It's hard to put into words what this HSP training course has meant to me. I'll be honest in saying that I was a bit skeptical that my brain could be rewired to behave/react differently. And yet, I was desperate for some relief of the feelings of overwhelm and exhaustion of being an HSP. The term HSP was relatively new to me when I came across Julie's Facebook page, and her posts about her online training course. Even though it was the pilot program, I knew I wanted/needed to be a part of it. To learn that I am wired differently than most people was a relief, because I'd often felt like I was failing at life, that I couldn't handle my environment and the 'normal' daily demands. I'd seen my sensitivity as a negative, so often told that I was 'too sensitive'. This course flipped that negative belief, to a very positive one. A new topic was introduced each week, along with journal prompts and new techniques to try. And gradually I've felt a noticeable shift, in how I view myself, and how I react to my environment. I feel calmer, not as easily overwhelmed or stressed. Feeling more in control is such a blessing. While I wish I'd known about HSP decades ago, I am grateful to have found this training course when I did. With the tools that I learned on the course, I know that my life is changed for the better...overwhelm is slowly being replaced with calm, joy, and hope for my future. Julie, I am forever grateful for your work and research, and for providing this online opportunity to share your knowledge." -Mia, Ontario, Canada
Beautiful Course Moments
"I'm definitely feeling some release of stress, anxiety, and self-judgment from this course normalizing all my idiosyncrasies, seeing I'm not alone... and really driving home that my self- care is not just novel but medically necessary!!! I feel more supported and more resourced to be successful in life. Loving this!!"
"I am able to stop consistently before my brain moves into the limbic mode which has improved my relationship with my wife and daughter and more importantly with myself. "
"I love this (from the course materials): When we show compassion for ourselves we create brain space so that we can begin to choose to prioritize our needs more and begin the needed self care that is medicine to us as HSPs." Thank you so much for this course! This is my intention: more self-love and compassion!"
"This course has been such an eye opener for me. I’ve learned things about myself that have amazed me and filled me with pride for something I never thought I could learn to live with. Coming into this course not really understanding what an HSP was made me really nervous. But after taking this 8-week journey with all of you I am filled with gratitude for my HSP traits. Now I am so thankful to be an HSP, I couldn’t imagine life without my HSP “super-powers”! This course has given me so many tools to help me work with my HSP traits, instead of against them."
"I used to view self-care and self-compassion as weakness or laziness. I was critical of myself when I became overwhelmed and I would judge myself for taking breaks. Now self-care and self-compassion are becoming a part of my every day life. I make myself a priority by planning time for self-care like, meditating, or journaling. I also allow myself alone time when I need it, I excuse myself if a social gathering has become too much for me and I make a point of planning my days so I won’t be overwhelmed by too much activity or social interaction."
"Before this course my stress numbers were about 8-9 daily. Since starting this course they’ve gone down to about 3-4 daily, with ups and downs depending on the situation. Focusing on mindfulness is a huge stress reliever for me. Being present in my daily actions helps me keep my emotions balanced."
"I also feel inspired to reignite more creativity... I notice when I have self-care scheduled, I have a break from daily stress to look forward to and feel stronger and more resilient in general. Exercise also really helps, in general and I feel capable and confident while I'm working toward my goals. The mantras make my body relax and comfort my mind... I'd say my stress levels have gone from regularly 6-8 out of 10 to 4-6 now, with bouts as low as 2 or 3 for short periods throughout the day...I'm really glad that I took this course. It has helped me become a lot nicer to myself and I've allowed myself to accept the positive feelings and feel good about my progress."
"I’ve become much better at prioritizing my needs. Now I know what will overwhelm me so I purposefully plan self-care after a potentially overwhelming situation. I make more time for me and allow myself to stop if I get overwhelmed. I am committed to managing my stress in healthy ways, showing compassion for myself, and taking pride in my HSP traits."
"Now that I really understand what an HSP is, I plan to share more about my HSP traits with friends and family. I’m excited to continue learning about HSPs and myself! Thank you to all of you in the course, I really enjoyed seeing other perspectives on things I struggle with all the time. And a huge thank you to Julie for creating this wonderful course, I never would have learned this much about HSPs (or myself!) if it weren’t for all of your hard work! I really appreciate all of the wisdom and support you gave us."
"It's great that our ability to feel deeper makes us experience positive things in greater intensity than others. Our ability to just "sense" things intuitively is also a great ability to have and being able to put people at ease."
"Being more self aware of my needs and actively working on allowing myself self care has been a great help. Even the smallest things like just taking my breaks outside in the sun has helped improve my quality of life. Being more aware of when I'm starting down the path of overextending myself has helped a lot."
"I think what has helped also is allowing myself to not have to explain why I need self care etc. Just doing the self care and focusing on myself instead of worrying about how others will react or respond has been good. I can always explain myself later when I'm calmer and less likely to react strongly."
"The language you included about different ways to talk to our inner child was really helpful. Often you hear advice to "be kinder to yourself," etc. but no one really shares exactly how to do that. Some of us need these things spelled out, especially during challenging moments."
"I love this excerpt from week 3: "If we judge ourselves, we are using our brain space to judge, rather than to observe, reflect, and make change." Thank you to Julie for this golden nugget of wisdom. I'm a huge efficiency person, so knowing that judging myself and/or others is using up valuable energy is very motivating to quit it, already!"
"I never made the connection between oxygen built up in the muscles and the way exercise can release that tension! Things like progressive muscle relaxation and anything that allows you to tense then relax your body have always been super relieving and it's cool to know the physiology behind it."
"Thanks a lot everyone and Julie for making this course a wonderful learning experience. I don't think I would have accepted my HSP traits without all of your help."
"Thank you!! Life changing course."
"Thank you to all of you for making this course so interactive, and thank you Julie for your hard work in creating the class and such attentive participation throughout! I hope to see lots of you in the graduates group."

"I feel a lot more positive about being an HSP. Before this course, it honestly felt like such a curse…so stressful, overwhelming, and exhausting. Now I feel so much more connected…to myself, to the people in my life, to my environment. That does feel special! And a gift!
"I feel very different, and I'm very proud of the commitment I made to myself to see this course through. It does feel life changing! And I've loved to see the changes in the other participants of the course. Each small victory, whether is was theirs or mine, has felt so incredible!"
“I am actually finding some compassion for myself. Interacting with so many people like me is beyond amazing… almost too good to believe!”
“What I have found helpful so far is concrete things I can do every day to rewire my brain and become more resilient."
“Having you share your personal story as an HSP is so helpful! You know first hand what it's like to feel the things we do. It's not like talking to a therapist who has never walked in our shoes.”
"As someone commented 'we have found our lost tribe'. And the focus is on our positives. That helps reframe things when we've been feeling defeated and embarrassed about being sensitive.”
“The lesson this week is so good, I also cannot wait to continue moving forward. This is SO good!”
“Julie, I am loving the Course. Thank you for running such a worthwhile course for Highly Sensitive people.”
“Thanks again for having this class! It has already motivated me to explore new ways of thinking.”
“It's been so nice to be in a community of HSPs, such caring and kind individuals. I really do feel different being surrounded by others like me, makes this seem easier as we do it together.”
“My classmates inspired me this week. Those that are contributing are open, honest, willing to be vulnerable, and respectful of what others are saying.”
“I think understanding HSPs and how important self care is will ultimately change your perspective on yourself and the world you live in to make life feel more weightless. I have learned to practice self care every day and see my traits as positives rather than negatives. I feel more aware and appreciate myself. I almost feel like I am in a dream without the high stress/overwhelming feelings every day, but it feels good. Your sensitivities are your powers. Learn how to use them and keep them safe with self care. SELF CARE SELF CARE SELF CARE. I really don't want this course to end though…I am so glad we are only in week 4.”
"Thank you also for creating this course for HSPs, it was such a blessing to be available to me at this time in my life."
