Loving Affirmations for HSPs by Julie Bjelland

HSP Tip: Your brain believes what you tell it. Be your own compassionate friend. Paying attention to using positive, loving self-talk will increase self-love.

If used consistently, positive affirmations can help train your brain to help you feel more encouraging and positive toward yourself and also help you feel more grounded, calm, and centered. A couple of my favorites are:

  • You are safe and loved.

  • This feeling is temporary. (This is a good one to use when you feel overwhelmed or are having a difficult emotion). 

Here are some from a poll I did of other HSPs:

  • I love you just the way you are.

  • You are enough. You will get through this!

  • Pause. Breathe. Smile.

  • I am safe, good, and resilient. 

  • I am wonderfully made, beautifully formed, and an integral part of the universe.

  • I AM graceful, rhythmic and flowing, peaceful, calm and relaxed, beautiful, youthful, and radiant. An inspiring leader and a gifted healer.

  • I am forgiven. I am free.

  • I love my life. I love this day

  • Everything is working out to my highest good.

  • You are strong, and you are brave, and I love you.

  • I trust in you.

  • I AM Divinely guided, protected, inspired, and supported.

  • I am exactly where I’m meant to be. I got this!

  • This, too, shall pass. And I've made it through before.

  • I made the best decision for the day.

  • You are more than enough!

  • Celebrate your good decisions... Educate yourself on your bad decisions...and keep moving forward. Live immediately.

  • You are the strongest person I know. 

  • I've survived all my hardest days before

  • It’s all good! I also say that to the kids I work with when they are challenged.

  • I AM in the flow. I can let go.

  • I am grounded, I am empowered, I am me.

  • New sprouts! Every time! Thank you ;) Every time as in 'every time I catch my old pattern and form the new one'’ This works so well!

  • I know enough; I do enough; I am enough.

  • You are worthy! You got this!

  • Your circumstances are pretty tough, and you are exactly where you need to be, and your soul wants to be. You are one of the strongest persons on this planet, as you've been dealing with this since ever, and you're still here, still evolving. One day you will look back and be even more thankful for all the challenges. Actually, you're thankful big time already.

  • You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and stars; you have the right to be here.

  • Faith exists whether I feel it or not.

  • Listen to the still, small voice.

  • I've got the skills to pay the bills!! 

  • You have been through so much. Let me be kind to myself. 

  • Calming one....everything will be alright, everything will be just fine, and all will work out the way it's supposed to.

  • I like you a lot.

  • This, too, will pass.

There are so many wonderful things we can say to ourselves. Start thinking about showing yourself compassion and lovingkindness every day in the words you use for self-talk. You have so much love to give the world; now it’s time to show yourself some of that love right back.

As a highly sensitive person (HSP), intentionally developing self-love is of paramount importance. The inherent nature of being an HSP means that you have a heightened sensitivity to the emotions and energies around you. This sensitivity can sometimes lead to overwhelming feelings and self-doubt. By cultivating self-love, you establish a strong foundation of self-acceptance and compassion. It allows you to embrace your sensitivity as a beautiful gift rather than a burden, fostering a sense of inner strength and resilience.

Self-love enables you to set healthy boundaries, prioritize self-care, and honor your unique needs as an HSP. It helps you develop a positive self-image, recognize and celebrate your strengths, and practice self-compassion during challenging times. Ultimately, by intentionally nurturing self-love, you create a solid grounding within yourself, empowering you to navigate the world as an HSP with confidence, authenticity, and a deep sense of self-worth.
